The weighted springy ends move and pull just like real battle ropes when you do a full swing or exercise with them. Just playing around doesn't always get the full effect, but if you drop into a squat, hold them like battle ropes, and flick, it feels almost exactly like the real deal.They are really easy to use and don't take up too much room. I wish they had a carry bag but other than that, they are perfect
